Viscerums
The Viscerums form a family of evolving instruments dedicated to the emergence and transformation of perceptual forms. They shift established modes of representation by making gesture, movement and perception the primary materials of creation.
Emerging rather than representing
The Viscerum does not seek to illustrate a perception that has already been identified. Instead, it provides a space in which a form can appear before being named, interpreted or stabilised as an image.
Gesture as a material for transformation
Moving, stretching, tightening, varying or stabilising a form becomes a way of exploring what is changing within perception itself. Gesture does not decorate the form: it directly participates in its emergence and evolution.
Three spaces for experimentation
The Organic Viscerum explores the transformation of a living and unstable form. The Mini Viscerum concentrates the experience within a more immediate environment. The Blob Viscerum investigates deformation, expansion and the stabilisation of perceptual matter in motion.
Preserving a trace without fixing the experience
The resulting form can become a trace of the experience without claiming to summarise it. It preserves a state, a passage or a transformation. The Viscerum therefore remains both a research instrument and a space for visual production.
Evolving instruments
Like the other instruments developed by uNRu Lab, the Viscerums are not conceived as permanently completed devices. Their forms, behaviours and possibilities for transformation can evolve through research and use.
